5:00 PM. Morean Clay Center

This show is the result of an exciting and innovative collaboration of artists on both sides of the lens. A diverse group of talented photographers was given the challenge of "exposing" the most intimate aspects of "the process" employed by some of our area's most prolific, creative and well known visual artists. The result is a photographic collection of the most revealing moments in the creation of art.
To make it even more exciting, the pieces depicted in the images will also be included in the show in their completed form. This will be a multi artist, multi genre, multi media, multi event experience in a beautiful and historic venue in the heart of the Warehouse Arts District!
Limited edition signed and numbered prints will also be available.

Friday, November 13th - Opening reception 6-10pm
Saturday, November 14th - Second Saturday ArtWalk 5-9p
Sunday, November 15th - Brunch/Talkback with the artists on both sides of the lens. 12-4pm

In partnership with the USF Contemporary Art Museum and the Tampa Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg is proud to bring the 2015 Creative Time Summit to the Tampa Bay area. This year’s theme is The Curriculum, exploring constructs of knowledge. Each venue will host live panels and performances, in addition to video footage of the Creative Time Summit in Venice. The MFA’s events will take place on Saturday, November 14th from 12 – 5pm in the Marly Room. Details are below.

This event is free with admission (includes lunch and refreshments throughout the day, and access to Museum galleries)
Please RSVP to kpill@fine-arts.org by November 10

The Creative Time Summit is an initiative of Creative Time, a New York-based organization dedicated to presenting innovative art in the public realm. Each year, the Creative Time Summit explores the many ways in which artists, activists, writers and curators are tackling the world’s most challenging social and political issues.

12pm – buffet lunch is served
12:15pm – Panel discussion moderated by Tampa Bay art critic and curator Danny Olda, featuring speakers from each of the Tampa Bay presentation sites, focusing on the history of Creative Time and its relevance to the Tampa Bay area.
1:00pm – break
1:30pm – screenings from the Creative Time Summit in Venice
3:00pm – break
3:30pm – Jacqueline Mabey, founder of Art + Feminism, will give an overview of her Wikipedia Edit-a-thon project. This will be followed by an hour-long editing workshop (please bring your laptops!). Wikipedia’s gender trouble is well documented. In a 2010 survey it was revealed that less than 13% of its contributors identify as female. The practical effect of this disparity is clear—Wikipedia is clearly skewed in favor of male artists. This represents a huge inequality in an increasingly important repository of shared knowledge. Edit-a-thons have taken place globally, encompassing 1,300 volunteers, 70 events on 4 continents, and nearly 400 new articles devoted to female artists. Complementing Marks Made: Prints by American Women Artists from the 1960s to the Present, this event aims to ensure the visibility of female artists in its permanent collection.

Swatched: Woven in Clay is a solo exhibition by ceramic artist Gracie Herbert. The show features Herbert's newest work which includes bright colors and bold line work. The artist draws inspiration for her surfaces from textile designs. Often in the textile industry swatches are used as a sample and may represent a larger collection. Herbert uses this idea of a swatch as a way to explore a variety of techniques and patterns in her work. Each piece serves as a unique sample that unite to create a cohesive collection through color and design. Swatched: Woven in Clay takes place on November's Second Saturday Gallery Walk (Saturday, November 14, 2015) from 5 pm to 9 pm at Charlie Parker Pottery.

St. Petersburg's Second Saturday ArtWalk presents over 40 galleries and studios in the Waterfront Arts, Central Arts District, The EDGE District of St. Petersburg, Grand Central District Association and the Warehouse Arts District coming together as one arts destination.

Be the first to see new affordable works of art, as ArtWalk is Opening Night where many galleries and studios premiere new works. Some are only open on ArtWalk, and many offer demonstrations and refreshments. It’s impossible to take in the entire ArtWalk in one night! Plan to drive, walk, or take the trolleys to visit the districts of your choice.

Our free trolley shuttles will have an art guide on board talking about each venue on our one continuous trolley loop. You can park for free on 1st Ave N and 1st Ave S from 15th St to 30th Street. Additional parking will be available for trolley riders in the vacant lot at the Northeast corner of Central Avenue and 29th Street (Please note that this is NOT one of our trolley stops). In addition, venues with large free parking lots are Soft Water Studios, the Morean Center for Clay at the Train Station, the Clay Center of St. Petersburg, and the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum.

The St. Petersburg Arts Alliance, the Arts Association St. Petersburg Inc., the EDGE District, the Grand Central District, and the Warehouse Arts District associations coordinate St. Petersburg’s Second Saturday ArtWalk. The St. Petersburg Arts Alliance strives to be the community voice, the umbrella organization for the arts -- facilitating artists, arts organizations and creative businesses to work collaboratively; empowering the growth of the arts community, and driving arts-related economic development.
