Another one bites the dust....Bottega   closes...this is their last show.

It is our last event presenting an exceptional show .
I AM SURE YOU WILL BE THRILLED.
Please Come and Join Us for " COLORS of RITUAL".
Original oil canvas by Luis Felipe Romero from Colombia inspired by the life and look of the Amazon Indians. Each piece is unique with facial and body expressions, vibrant colors that stimulates the eye and mind. A magical and mystical legends.

And if you like ceramic you cannot miss the artwork from the Japanese artist Yasuko Nakamura. Her pieces bring the ceramic art to a “spiritual” level.

Have fun with the Micaceous pottery making live demonstration and enjoy the exquisite food prepared (at the time) by the artist Marc Millovich using his own “Micaceous clay” cookware reviving the art of the Apache Bean pot. The pottery art learned from Felipe Ortega (an Apache medicine man and talented Micaceous clay potter).
“Indian people view pottery, not only as containers for food or other items, but also as containers and givers of li
fe. They are beings, created by the union of clay and water through the potter’s hands and thoughts, which are transferred into the vessel. They have a life and a history, and they can bring good or harm to people who use them or eat from them. When they are fired, they are born. When they are broken, they die and go back to Mother Earth”.

Live music and entertainment.

To help commemorate its 13th anniversary, Domain Home Accessories & Gallery will showcase new work by an artist who has been featured at the business since its opening 13 years ago. Gulfport artist Diane Posnanski-Bragg will offer a large assortment of new fused glass works, including decorative and functional pieces and jewelry for display and sale. Diane will also talk to visitors about the evolution of her art work, as well as her travels as an “itinerant” artist for the last several years. This installment of Domain’s monthly “Meet the Artists” event will take place on Saturday, March 15th from 6 to 10 p.m. at 3129 Beach Boulevard South in the Gulfport Waterfront District. Live entertainment by jazz saxophonist Henry Ashwood will also be featured during the evening, and complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvre will be offered. Free birthday cake to celebrate the 13th anniversary of Domain will also be served.

Native Floridian Diane Posnanski-Bragg grew up in the Tampa Bay area and has been inspired by the tropical plants, flowers and wildlife she has encountered here since childhood, creating art reflecting the nature around her as she grew up. She attended the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale and after 25 years of “conventional” work in the fields of graphic and advertising design, she returned to her more creative roots, working with Postich Stained Glass Studio in Largo, Florida. She soon established her own independent glass studio, and then partnered with her former husband working with stained and fused glass, as well as glass and metal sculpture. The pair travelled extensively, participating in and accumulating awards at art shows throughout the country, including annual appearances at the Ann Arbor Art Fair and St. Petersburg’s Mainsail Art Festival. Now as a solo artist with Diane Bragg Studio, the shapes, colors and essence of her art work celebrate the roots, leaves and blooms of Florida as much as ever. Contemporary, bright and textural, Diane’s current fused glass pieces include jewelry, decorative wall plaques and hangings, including many that feature a single word of inspiration (“believe,” “breathe,” “imagine!”), as well as functional pieces such as clocks and coasters. Diane’s work, beginning with her stained glass pieces, has been a mainstay at Domain Home Accessories since its beginnings.

Established in March 2001, Domain Home Accessories offers a large variety of unique art, décor, jewelry, cards, home goods and more, and has earned a reputation as one of Gulfport’s most respected retailers. “& Gallery” opened in 2012 in the adjacent space and showcases the work of over 40 local and regional artists in a variety of media. “Meet the Artists” events at “& Gallery” occur during Gulfport’s popular Third Saturday Art Walk. Artists and artisans line the sidewalks of scenic Beach Boulevard on Art Walk evenings. Independent shops and boutiques, live glassblowing at the Industrial Arts Center, live music venues, street performers, and Gulfport’s many popular restaurants are all part of the lively Art Walk scene. Parking in the waterfront village is free and convenient. Free trolleys are available for visitors parking in remote sites for transportation to and from the hub of Art Walk. For more information, contact Daniel Hodge, (727) 366-4086 or email dan@igc.org; or visit domainhomeaccessories.com.

Talk by Urbano Astuyauri Soto at Feathered Serpent on Sunday. I reviewed this show, and can recommend this without reservation. This artist shows you how to find the key to unlocking your own childhood.

Maybe you saw the cool review by Luis Gottardi on Art Taco? Or have read a review by Lennie Bennett in the Tampa Bay Times (with some beautiful photos on line), Please join us on Sunday to hear more about how Peruvian artist Urbano Asutuyauri has remained connected to the memories of childhood and translated them into some very sophisticated contemporary art that has already made its way into Tampa Bay homes. There is no charge for the talk, and we will have some lite refreshments and live Latin American folk music to follow. Some of the remaining art is beautifully framed.
