Voina's Bridge Phallus Wins Art Prize in Russia

The Russian Artists' group called Voina, which means "War" and has been blogged on here before, has won a major Art Prize in Russia. Their work, which consists of a 210 foot-long representation of a penis on a drawbridge, titled "Cock Captured by the FSB" and literally becomes erect as the bridge is raised, won Russia's Ministry of Culture and the National Center for Contemporary Art. There's $14,000 USD awarded, which Voina said would go to "political prisoners". Two of its leaders are awaiting their trial for hooliganism after a performance piece where they turned over several police cars as a comment on corruption in the Russian government. They could get seven years for this.
