This Gangster Squad Weekend, January 11th-13th

Carol Mickett & Robert Stackhouse, "Breath of Water"

Phases of Identity: Robert Stackhouse and Carol Mickett @ Selby Gallery @ Ringling College of Art and Design - These two multi-talented St. Pete artists will be doing an installation and showing paintings about identity. Opening reception is 5:00 - 7:00 PM Friday, January 11th. A director's tour takes place at 11:30 AM on Monday, Jan. 14th. All at 2700 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.

Farming, Family, and Folk Art: Ruby C. Williams @ Gallery 221, HCC Dale Mabry - This Central Florida artist has shown at The Smithsonian Anacostia Museum in Washington DC, been awarded a Florida Folk Heritage Award and many other accolades. Her roots go deep in Floridian history and she will be showing a wide variety of work. The show opens on Monday, January 14th. The opening reception is on Thurs. January 17th, 5-7 PM. Gallery 221's director is familiar with Folk art, so this should be good. All at HCC Dale Mabry, 4001 W. Tampa Blvd. Free admission.

Village Birth Circle presents: TRUST BIRTH Art ExhibitA group of collective artists with a passion and belief in natural childbirth are creating work to enlighten and strengthen the idea of natural, un-medicated childbirth.
There will be belly castings, bellydancing, wine/beer, hors d'oeuvres and food trucks! Free and open to the public.

The Venture Compound is holding the Saint Petersburg 'Zine Fest, coming up on January 12th, 2013 (2nd Saturday) starting at 6 PM. The event is sponsored by St. Pete Community Acupuncture and St. Pete Free Skool and is attracting a wide variety of 'zines and their authors, including Malcom Johnson and Coralette Damme.

Functional/Dysfunctional is a National Juried Ceramics Exhibition of functional and sculptural works. Artists Kathy King and Steven Young Lee selected ceramic pieces by artists hailing from across the US.
Florida Heat: Instructor Work is comprised of works by artists affiliated with Florida Heat, St. Petersburg Clay Company, Highwater Clays and the Morean's annual 11-day long firing symposium.
