This Cinco De Mayo Weekend: May 6th-8th

Arnold Mesches @ Mindy Solomon Gallery - Two bodies of Mesches work will be shown: Weather Patterns & Paint. The latter about the importance of art in daily living. Mr. Mesches will speak at 6:00 PM. These artist's talks at MSG are one of the signatures of the way this gallery brings you in direct contact with some of top artists today. Splatter Theater: Blood, Guts Death Power Tools @ Silver Meteor Gallery - *Warning* This play is famous for blood & gore, and because it's great. Friday, May 6th, through Tuesday, May 10th, at the Silver Meteor Gallery, 2213 E. Sixth Ave. Ybor City, Tampa. Show times 10:01 Fri-Sat, 8:01 Sundays and weekdays. $7 admission

Craftsman House Teapot Invitational - What a challenge to approach such a conventional thing as a tea pot. Thirty teapots will be shown. Opens Friday, May 6th, from 4 to 8 PM. Free.

 Sunday brunch at the beautiful AT  cafe (adjacent to the gallery)  is a great Mother's Day  idea. $16, including a drink, tea or coffee. Reservations for brunch are a good idea. Asian Fire: Ikebana Exhibition - Japanese Flower arrangement is an art form. In this case, it is shown on Florida Craftsmen Gallery's ceramics. Opening on Thursday, May 5, 5:30-8:30 PM. Runs through May 7th. Florida Craftsmen Gallery, 501 Central Ave. St Petersburg.

Closing Reception, Ideal Exhibit @ USF - An account of Amy Royale's weight issues.  USF Centre Gallery, 4202 E. Fowler, on USF Campus. MSC 2700. 7-9PM Friday. Free, but parking is $5.

USF Contemporary Art Museum, "Starting Fires", 2011 MFA Graduation Exhibition @ USF - Hours are 10-5 PM Monday through Friday.  1-4PM Saturday, which is the last day for this show. 3821 Holly Drive, USF Campus. Free, but parking is $5.
