Kerouac Book Club Series Completed.

 Working closely together, 'Keep St. Pete Lit' and 'Friends of the Jack Kerouac House' completed their one-month 'Kerouac Book Club' series of readings and parties.
     The book club started on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at the Flamingo Sports Bar, 1230 Martin Luthor King Jr. St. North. For ten dollars, members could attend the opening party, weekly readings at the Flamingo or Kahwa Coffee South, and the final 'Beat Bash' at theBends, 919, 1st Ave N. members could read from any Kerouac book they liked.
     The 'Keep St. Pete Lit' organizers are Maureen McDole, Margaret Murray and Heather Jones. www.facebook.com/keepstpetelit.
     The 'Friends of the Jack kerouac House Inc. include Pat Barmore, Pete Gallagher, Heidi Horak, Margeret Murray and Dale Nichols (owner of the Flamingo Sports Bar where Kerouac hung out). www.kerouachouse.com.
     Future events include the 'Friends of the Kerouac House' annual gathering at the Flamingo Sports Bar on Saturday, October 19, 7 pm. There will be music and Beat Poetry on the front porch of the bar.
     In other Beat news, Carolyn Cassady 9wife of Neal Cassady, died Sept. 20 in Ebngland at 90 years old. She had written her own book telling her side of the Beat scene. For more info; www.brianhasset.com.
