Tara Radosevich @ eve N Odd Gallery Opening Night.

eve-N-odd gallery will be welcoming local sweetheart, Tara Radosevich to do her first one woman show!
October 12th
7-10 pm
eve-N-odd gallery
645 Central Ave. #11
St. Petersburg, FL 33701
727. 433. 4981
contact: Jennifer Kosharek
Tara Radosevich was born on March 6,1990 in Saint Petersburg, FL. A local artist, she has participated in group shows around the St. Pete and Tampa area. This will be her first solo exhibition. Her work is primarily paintings and drawings that focus' on animals as the subject matter. She also loves to dabble in other mediums as well such as photography. Currently she attends the University of South Florida and will earn her Bachelor's in Fine Arts this December.
Show Statement
My process is the expulsion of the subconscious in reaction to the external. Deriving from my infatuation with folklore, wildlife, and the supernatural. My internal emotions and reactions to my external experiences manifest themselves into animal imagery. The paintings themselves become allegorical narratives composited of Symbolism, Surrealism, and Realism. The animal is as is; an emotion, a portrait, a memorable experience, or invoke its own symbolic origins unto the viewer. I am in search of this unison between the human and the beast-the importance of what exactly that animal means to us as the human species; in our dreams and our fears.

Imminent Ritual @ Charlie Parker Pottery - On October 12th, during second Saturday art walk, our member Laura Irmis will showcase her recent work titled Imminent Ritual. There will also be a raku demonstration and beer/wine.

Laura’s life as a henna artist, doula and childbirth educator has certainly influenced her art. In this body of work, she has created functional pottery along with finger-tracing labyrinths to be used for visual aesthetics, meditation and childbirth. She was inspired by the concept of using finger labyrinths in labor and childbirth for pain management. For this show, she has created several versions for both men and women to use for mediation and calming sense for a feeling of well-being.

Labyrinths are tools used for meditation and problem solving. It combines the imagery of the circle and the spiral into a meandering but purposeful path. The Labyrinth represents a journey to our own center and back again out into the world.

Walking or finger-tracing a labyrinth invokes a sensation and guides the viewer through meditation. Studies have been done on brainwaves of people while they have traced a labyrinth. Alpha brainwaves are produced when your attention is focused in mediation, using a labyrinth, creative visualization, and the waves are even stronger with your eyes are closed. These Alpha brainwaves are slow, nine to 14 cycles per second and create a feeing of well-being and induce calming changes in the mind and body lowering the heart rate, blood pressure and stress hormones.

Laura will be at the reception, probably eating birthday cake, for any questions about her work.

2724 Sixth Avenue S, Saint Petersburg, 5-9 PM.

Stem to Stern @ Duncan McClellan Glass

The Duncan McClellan Gallery proudly presents, From Stem to Stern, an exhibit & glass demo featuring Rob Stern and Susan Rankin.

Rob Stern’s aesthetic resides at the crossroads where man and nature intersect. Between seemingly random organic patterns and angular hewn planes he creates a space that is continuously changing with light and time; where glass is a lens that capturing this space.

Susan Rankin finds inspiration in the sensuality of classical vase forms, using the tight waist and broad shoulders of some of her vases to express her love of traditional proportion. Rankin is also enthralled with the history of glass and pays homage to this history by incorporating exuberantly contemporary florals with a classical twist into her work today. Susan also creates large "Column" sculptures, inspired "by the garden and for the garden".

October 12th is your opportunity to personally meet and watch these two talented artists work! View their amazing art while sipping on refreshments from our custom bars (available for a donation benefiting the DMG School Project).

Sunday, October 13, you're invited to a pre-lecture brunch at 1pm at the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, Florida with a complimentary Mimosa and "Meet and Greet" the lecturing Artists, Susan Rankin and Robert Stern. Black Beast of Chang CD Release @ Venture Compound - To help us celebrate the release of our new CD "KRONOS", Black Beast of CHANG will be performing at The Venture Compound along with a few of our friends.

Oblongata
Leveret
Lovebrrd
Rest in Satin Silence
Smith Lavender
Black Beast of CHANG

All for a mere $5.

Two years after our only live duo performance and numerous conversations about the possibilities, Bipediment Recordings is proud to present (finally) a CD collaboration between Black Beat of ARRRGHHH (Zachory Short Jr) and CHANG (Jim Ivy), collectively known as Black Beast of CHANG.

Titled KRONOS, the CD is loosely based upon the ancient Greek myth of the Titan King and his downfall. In actuality, the recording is a live in studio improvisation and contains no overdubs or edits. The four “acts” were created as they are heard and in that order. I split the pieces into smaller “bite-sized” bits for digestion. It just happened to fit the story incredibly well. Besides, who could resist basing a work upon a story that contains castration, war, humiliation, and the eating of one’s children? [Who indeed?]
