This Contagion Weekend: Sept 8th - 11th

Piggyback @ C. Emerson Fine Arts -  A collaborative evolution exhibit with at least one artist whose work I've not seen before, unfolds on Saturday, Sept 10th, at 909 Central Avenue, St Pete. Starts at 7 PM in coordination with the Artswalk. Free admission.

Beyond The Glass @ Duncan McClellan Gallery - Photographer Richard Logan, glass artists Massimiliano Schavon, new work by Duncan McClellan and a jewelry artist whose identity is being kept secret. Saturday, Sept 10th, 5:30-9:30. Free.

"Just Look Inside", Javier Dones @ Arts Lofts - Dones is showing a shadowbox series. Opens Saturday, during the St Pete Gallery Walk, from 5 to 8:30 Saturday, Sept 10th. Free.  10 Fifth Ave North, St Petersburg.

Life or Death: Duane Michals @ Florida Museum of Photographic Arts - Duane Michals' work utilizes sequential figurative pictures (often with multiple exposures) made inn the directorial mode along with parallel narratives in the form of writing on the prints. The variety of themes and the depth in which they are treated makes this a must-see exhibit for anyone interested in photography.  FMoPA, 200 N. Tampa St. Opens 6-8 PM Thursday, Sept. 8th, runs through Nov. 6th. $6 Admission.

Virgins and Vixens @ Hoffman Porges Gallery Gala - A little deja vu as this gallery is born again after lying fallow for many years -- under new ownership. A show representing woemn across time in many media. Proceeeds go to the Athena Program, who helps homeless women veterans. 1907 E. Seventh Ave., Ybor City (Tampa). Opens Friday, Sept. 9th., 3-8 PM.

Remembering Sept 11th, Len Prince Photographs @ Museum of Fine Arts, St Pete. - Photographer Len Prince was there when it happened. eleven of his prints from pictures taken on that day will be shown. On Sunday, Sept 11th, there will be a discussion/lecture with Gary Mormino & Ken Lydecker at 3:00 PM.

PBR Art Show @ Cafe Hey - Artists work on that elixir of hipsters, Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer. Same show that will be reviewed here very soon that was at Sake Bomb in St. Pete makes its way across the Bay to Cafe Hey. Music by DJ Silence. Opens Friday, Sept 9th, at 8:00 PM on 1540 N. Franklin St.

Voices in The Forest: Candace Knapp @ Florida Craftsmen Gallery - Ms Knapp makes surreal wood sculptures that take the viewer into a dream-like form of nature. Opens Friday, Sept 9th, 5:30-8:30, 501 Central Ave. St Pete.

Three Circus-Themed Shows @ Dunedin Fine Arts Museum - "Side Show", "Believe it or not", and "Under the BIG Top" Open at the Museum this weekend.  As if that wasn't enough, there's another show for kids titled "Kids Art Fest". All at 1143 Michigan Blvd. Dunedin.
