Gulf Coast Arts Alliance 'Back To School!' Show
Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013
The Gulf Coast Arts Alliance Fall Members Exhibition opened on
Thursday, Sept. 5, 6-8 pm, in the St. Petersburg College Downtown
Center, 244 2nd Avenue N., St. Pete. The exhibition area is in a wide
second floor hallway with a reception room nearby and there were 12
artists in the show with 29 pieces including wire sculpture, paper
casting, mixed media, acrylic abstracts, and line art.
Director Judy Vienneau said that the GCCA, which started in 2005, will
be opening a gallery space at 635 Central Ave, St. Pete, in October.
There is a 'bonus' along with this show in that the corridors adjacent
to this exhibit have what looks to be a semi-permanent display of large
black and white photos of St. Petersburg history that range from 1914 to
the 1960's. One of the classic photos is of the 'Tea Room' that was
formerly on the second floor of the old Maas Brothers Department Store
that was located in the same block.
