Kansas Reconsiders Abolishing Its Arts Commission

“His intentions were good,”
                                 ---- Senate President Steve Morris, R-Hugoton, said of Brownback’s proposal.



In his headlong zealous rush to dismantle and greatly reduce the size and scope of the Kansas Arts Commission, supposedly to reduce the state's deficit, Governor Brownback forgot to do the math. His own republican Legislators didn't, and soon realized that the state would lose more money than they would save in the form of lost Federal Matching Funds and state moneys. They are trying to rein Brownback in towards a sound fiscal reality.
