Richest Man in The World Donates Museum to Mexico

Carlos Slim, the richest man in the world, presently worth $69.5 billion USD, has donated a new museum in Mexico City. The Soumaya Museum [Link] is celebrating it with a pre-opening this week. It will officially open March 28th. The building cost $34 million USD. His Foundation will underwrite all costs of the museum, with "...no specific budget...". And..."There will be no limits. We will decide what needs to be done at the museum and just do it.”. It will house part of Mr. Slim's 66, 000 piece collection.

The Grand Tour now includes Mexico City.

And... it will be free to all. Mr. Slim named the museum after his wife, Soumaya Domit, who passed away in 1999.
