This Lovely Weekend, Feb 10th - 12th

Closing Reception: Bud Lee @ Florida Museum of Photographic Arts -  A show titled "Bud Lee's America", of the work of one of our living cultural treasures, closes with a party hosted by Paul Wilborn, who is part of that history and a raconteur extraordinaire. Proceeds will go to the Bud Lee Foundation. Tonight, Thursday, Feb 9th, @ Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, 6-8 PM. Admission is $6.00 for non-members. The Art of Heartache @ West Tampa Center for The Arts - Faculty & students from the Art Institute of Tampa involves several media. Free. Friday, Feb 10th, opening runs from 7-10 PM. Runs through March 3rd. 1906 N. Armenia, Tampa. $2 donation suggested.

Fur the Love of Art and Cats - Ybor Art Association,  Big Cat rescue, Hoffman-Porges Gallery and Samantha Churchill are putting on an event titled "The Wall of Cats" of works by local photographers and artists. There will be a silent auction, live music, cupcake contest and  much more. 1907 E. Seventh Ave. Ybor City, Tampa Opens 6 PM Friday, Feb 10th. Free Admission.

Purple Nurple @ Tempus Projects - The Urban Dictionary defines this as: 1) The act of grabbing and twisting a nipple of another person, one's self, and even occasionaly other mammals.
What used to be called a "titty twist". Promises work on the Dionysian side. Sat Feb 11th, 7-10 PM.

The Muse Art and Body @ Art Pool - What could be more inspiring for Valentine's Day than 20 beautiful models clad in nothing more than paint? Matt Deterior will be painting Demeree, which by itself makes the evening worthwhile. Marina's roomy new digs will be rocked by James Ward and videos by James Meek. There will be flash mobbing, too. Admission includes beverages and grub from The Burg Grill. It's $15 before Saturday, $20 then. Marina put on great parties. ArtPool, 2030 Central Avenue, St. Petersburg.

Paint The Town @ Dan Painter's Gallery -  Two hot street art muralists will be doing live paint at this event, put on with help from Duncan McClellan and Central Arts. Painter's and DMG are becoming the nucleus of a nascent arts district. Dan Painter's party and his works are a world apart from the usual fare. This is a must-see event. Saturday, Feb 11th, 5-10 PM. The poster says nothing about admission.  Next door to DMG, at 2338 Emerson Ave South. St Petersburg.
