This Sarasota Film Festival Weekend, April 13th-15th

There's lots going on this weekend, and the weather looks good, too...

Perceptions and Memories: Marianne Chapel @ C. Emerson Fine Arts - Marianne Chapel, who taught at UT and Ringling before moving to Panama to work, also working at her studio in Canada. She uses traditional materials and methods coupled to conceptual concerns, which sounds like an interesting  combination. Opens Saturday, April 14th, 6-9 PM. C. Emerson Fine Arts, 909 Central Avenue. St Pete. Free admission.

Explicit Content @ Mindy Solomon Gallery - Explorations into the thin ice of taboo sexual and gender territory by a gallerist provocateur. No one under 18 admitted without a parent (!). Will the windows be covered with bubble wrap again to spare the prying eyes of conservative adults? Opens Saturday, April 14th, 6-8 PM, with an artists' talk at 6:30. On Sunday, April 15th, between 1:00 - 2:30 PM, there will be a panel session with four of the artists. All at Mindy Solomon Gallery, 124 2nd Ave. NE., St Petersburg. Free admission.

  1. Thank you sir. No hype, this may just be my favorite show in 6 years. The contextual basis is strong, technically the work is masterful and for installation it is the cohesive top level installation. I am as proud of this artist Marianne Chapel as a gallerist can be.
