This Ruby Sparks Weekend, August 10th - 12th

The Impossible Photographers @ Eve N Odd Gallery -  When Polaroid went under, devotees of the SX-70 type film mobilized and managed to resurrect the film. It was appropriately dubbed  "The Impossible Project", and they pulled it off. Michael and Cherry Collins are photographers who seized this unique opportunity to work with the film. Their efforts will be shown @ Jenifer Kosharek's Eve N Odd gallery, opening on Friday, August 10th, from 5-8 PM. Runs through August 31. Wicked Games @ C. Emerson Fine Arts - Resurfacing after its yearly aestivation, CEFA is having a group show with a conceptual interpretation of the theme. The following artists will be shown: Douglas Bosley, Carolina Cleere, Neverne Covington, Wendy Dickinson, Ron Francis, Donna Haynes, Doreen Horn, Betsy Lester, ras+e, Saori and Allison Sommers. America's Civil War @ FMoPA - The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts is showing photographs from the esteemed Drapkin Collection from the Civil War. Opens Thursday, August 9th, 6-8 PM.  Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, 400 N. Ashley Drive, Tampa. $10 admission for non-members.

1:30 p.m: Living in America: 100 Years of Ybor. Film Director Gayla Jamison
will screen and host a panel discussion of her documentary.
3:30 p.m: I Am a Cuban Sandwich, a one-man performance by Richard DiPietra.
Panelists include moderator Tom Shereberger, from the Poytner Institute and former food editor for the St. Petersburg Times; Dr. Susan Greenbaum, Professor Emerita of Anthropology at University of South Florida; historian and USF scholar Gary Mormino, Chris Sherman, former restaurant critic for the St. Petersburg Times; Michelle and Robert Faedo, food truck owners, among others.

Cross The Aisle, an RNC Collaboration @ Craftsman House - A collaborative work involving many artists in different media. Opens Sat. August 11th, 5-8:30 PM. Through Sept 2nd. Free admission. All at 2955 Central Ave. St Pete.

Different Strokes @  The Bricks - Mingle with the hipsters and catch no less than 20 "new" artists in a group show at the Bricks, Sat. Aug 11th, at 8 PM. 1327 E. Seventh Ave. Ybor City, Tampa. Free admission.

Epic of the Sandwiche Cubano @ FMoPA - A large photo installation curated by David Audet, called the River. Photographers incude Audet, Jeff Fey, Michelle Fader, Laszlo Horvath, Peter Melarango, Fred Smith, Matt Wiggins, and Luis Gottardi. Sunday, August 12th, 3-5 PM. 400 N. Ashley Drive, Tampa Museum of Photographic Arts.

Hypostasis @ The Box on 5th - Justin Myers, Justin Nelson, and Danny Olda curated by Kurt Piazza and Tracy Midulla Reller in this grand opening show.  The Box, 1801 E. 5th ave. Ybor City.  Mitzi Gordon's Blue Bus will be there.
